Please note that The Digital Age is the only topic that will be presented at 9:00.  If you do not wish to attend that one, the others start at 10:00.  Please place a check mark next to your TWO other choices for the 10:00 and 11:00 sessions.  (You will not be able to attend everything.)

_____   The Digital Age: Screen Addiction and Mental Health – Lindsey Blevins, LPC-MHSP from Lakeside Behavioral Health System and School Social Worker Annie Harden discuss the scientific research regarding excessive screen time on healthy brain development.

_____   Let’s Get Physical – Health teacher Dylan Brown speaks about the importance of physical health and demonstrates EASY and FUN ways to physically interact with children.

_____   How to Hang on While Riding the Adolescence Roller Coaster – Professional Care Services personnel will discuss how to handle the emotional ups and downs, anxiety, and depression of teens and tweens.

_____   The Case for CASE (Testing) – Have you ever wondered what the Case 21 test is that your child takes three times a year?  Social Studies teacher Christy Dye-Maclin explains the test and how the results are used in ELA and Social Studies.

_____   ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) – Annie Harden discusses how to help children who have been exposed to traumatic events such as divorce, abuse, alcoholism, incarceration, and/or death of a parent.

 

Brighton High School students, under the supervision of BMS teachers, will provide free childcare for children aged 5-11 at no cost while their parents attend the Parent University.  If you will need childcare, please complete the section below.

Boys Soccer Conditioning

Make-A-Wish

The Make-A-Wish Money War will start this Monday!  Our goal is $5,000 in one week to grant a wish for a child with a life-threatening illness. 
Monday:  Pennies For Popcorn
Tuesday:  Nickels for Nachos
Wednesday:  Dimes For Donuts
Thursday:  Quarters for Candy
Friday:  Paper (Cash and Checks) for Pizza

Costume Day

Costume Day                     

October 31st

 Brighton Middle School basketball teams will be sponsoring a costume day fundraiser.  Students will be allowed to wear a costume to school   for $3.00. 

  Guidelines for all costumes:                                                                     

-Costume must be in good taste (Clown costumes Will NOT Be Allowed)

-mild face painting is allowed

-wigs are allowed as part of costume

-sunglasses are allowed as part of costume

-no cross-dressing

-costumes must be in compliance with the school dress code

-any other article that may be disruptive to the classroom is not allowed.

 Students who do not abide by the costume guidelines will be sent to the office to call home. If you are uncertain about a costume, it is best not to wear it to school. TEACHERS PLEASE ANNOUNCE THIS TO YOUR HOMEROOM STUDENTS OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS TO REMIND THEM.
